Supercomputer Simulation of Multiscale Dynamic Behaviour in Multiphase Deformable Porous Media (2009)

Abstract:
The project will significantly advance the capability of Australian researchers to simulate and predict industrial multi-phase porous media flow. A thorough understanding of such flows is crucial for the design of geothermal reservoir, underground coal gasification, and geological storage of nuclear waste and CO2. The research will involve Prof. Zhang an internationally renowned scientist in multi-phase porous media flow how will collaborate on development of a suite of simulation tools with scientists at UQ. The research will build on computational infrastructure funded under NCRIS and benefit from the expertise residing in the newly established Geothermal Energy Centre at UQ.
