Genome-wide analysis of Oesophageal cancer: towards biomarkers of response and outcome (2010–2011)

Abstract:
Cancer of the oesophagus is increasing in incidence and carries a poor prognosis. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy, in addition to surgery, have been investigated in an attempt to improve outcome with mixed results. We are undertaking a clinical trial aimed at tailoring therapy to the individual. This project aims to identify patients that benefit from existing therapies and those that do not. We also seek novel treatment targets for patients that do not benefit from existing therapy.
