Monitoring and evaluating Moreton Bay and its catchments as a socio-ecological system (2012–2015)

Abstract:
Monitoring and evaluation are keys to effective management of protected areas but rarely applied to the social aspects of protected areas. This project contributes social and cultural analysis to an interdisciplinary monitoring and evaluation framework for the Moreton Bay Marine Park, focusing on people¿s values and interactions with the Bay, and water quality from catchments to the Bay. It enhances the scholarship of human-environment relationships and social-ecological systems and demonstrates how these concepts can contribute to fully integrated management, monitoring and evaluation of protected areas, and promote linkages between land and marine management.
