Next Generation Dengue Diagnostics (2011–2014)

Abstract:
Dengue Virus is an emerging global health problem. Over 2.5 billion people in 100 countries are considered at risk and outbreaks in North Queensland have been an annual event since 2004. We will discover and develop novel reagents for accurate, rapid, disposable, reliable, point-of-care diagnostic tests for Dengue infection. A complete map of key Dengue proteins will be made to select and produce optimal antibodies and antigens for new digital lateral flow tests that can give a digital test result. These low-cost and easy to use tests will provide clinicians with critical diagnosis information for dengue infection that will improve public health, and monitor the evolution and speed of Dengue advance towards South East Queensland.
