Learning Catalysts: Improving Educational Outcomes for Disadvantaged Children (2013–2016)

Federal, State and Territory governments agree that education is central to national well-being and prosperity and should enable all young people to participate in a globalised economy. However, Australian education, although high quality, is highly unequal, with children from low socioeconomic status families achieving poorer outcomes than their advantaged peers. Through a study of 34,000 disadvantaged young people and their families we will identify factors associated with educational success, inform strategies to improve Australian education, advance knowledge about intergenerational inequality, and address the objectives of the partner organisation to support educational outcomes for disadvantaged students and their families.
