Advancing hybrid imaging with magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography (MRI-PET) (2014–2017)

Abstract:
The outcomes of this project will be the following innovations of international significance to increase the utility, accessibility, cost-effectiveness and accuracy of MRI-PET hybrid imaging technology for brain tumor imaging: 1. In collaboration with MoleQular Pty Ltd, new combined modality imaging agents and ligands for the tumor immunosuppressing kynurenine pathway, more accurate methods of kinetic modeling and novel imaging-based mathematical models of tumor progression. 2. In collaboration with Oncovision S.A., an integrated MRI-PET head coil capable of higher sensitivity and resolution than existing devices and methods for increased the accuracy of PET through better attenuation correction and optimised detector geometry.
