Externally switchable homogeneous catalysts (2018)

Abstract:
This proposal will develop new homogeneous transition-metal catalysts that respond to external stimuli to reduce by-product formation.The development of new catalysts that reduce by-product formation can result in significant cost savings during product manufacture. The ability to control reactivity in this way will reduce the formation of unwanted tertiary amines in Buchwald-Hartwig arylation (C-N bond formation) catalysis using primary amines and arylhalides as substrates.
