A novel protein complex for Toll-like receptors tails pro-inflammatory responses (2018)

This project aims to characterise a complex of a new transmembrane adaptor SCIMP and CD11b. SCIMP has recently been shown to modulate Toll-like receptor signaling producing only selected pro-inflammatory cytokines. To understand the nature of this unique complex will underpin our efforts to find inhibitors as anti-inflammatory drugs. The outcomes will include new knowledge about how specific cytokines are generated for tailored inflammatory responses in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
