Transformative human mobilities in a changing climate (2019–2022)

Abstract:
This project aims to investigate how human mobility can contribute to both climate change adaptation and broader human development goals. Through policy analysis and case study research in the Pacific region, we seek to gain a better understanding of how various types of mobility (e.g. international labour migration, community relocation) can achieve these goals. The intended outcome is a Transformative Mobilities Framework that identifies how mobility, adaptation and development can be integrated in policy and practice to achieve the best possible livelihoods for people who are displaced, relocate or migrate in the face of climate change. This should enable improved mobility management in places of origin, destination and transition.
