Building Capacity For Adaptive Management In Protected Areas Through Improved Systems For Monitoring And Evaluation (2006–2008)

Abstract:
This project develops monitoring and assessment systems for protected areas which link assessment information to decision-making. These assessment systems will improve the evaluation of the effectiveness of the management of protected areas. The project (a) examines factors impacting on management effectiveness, (b) develops and applies a framework for integrating assessment information into adaptive management, and (c) facilitates the use of evaluation information to modify and adapt management. It involves analysis of datasets on management effectiveness, case studies, and systems mapping of the use of these data at all levels of management.
