My interest is in teaching statistical methods to biologists. The need to summarize data is something that all biological sciences have in common. The digital age has driven enormous growth in demand for statistical skills, due in particular to the rise of automation and its power to amass huge data sets. It is imperative that our graduates have the skills necessary to deal with these realities of the workplace.

My research publications concern applications of statistical methods to various topics in biology, including ecological genetics, biomedicine, genetic epidemiology, quantitative genetics, and demography. I am focused on developing better ways to make statistics an interesting and exciting topic for biologists.
