Overview

Dr. Yu Gao is an obstetrician, with experience in health services research, health economic research and qualitative and quantitative methods. She completed her doctoral study in Australia investigating the quality of maternity services in selective counties, townships and villages across Shanxi Province, China, funded by Australian Research Council grant. Her doctoral study identified how policy, social, economic and health system factors interacted with each other in driving maternal outcomes, particularly maternal mortality. After she was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy at Charles Darwin University, she has worked in University of Sydney (2010-2012) and Mater Medical Research Institute (2014-Current). Her major responsibilities have been to provide statistical support and conduct health economic evaluation for three large NHMRC projects. Her research interests include maternal health, health economic evaluation, public health and China study.
