Mark is a broad-based geologist, whose passions lie (1) in the resolution of complex structural-tectonic controls on mineralisation and their impact on the geotechnical and mining engineering aspects of resource extraction, and (2) resource targeting at all scales from mine to continental. He has worked in the mining and exploration industry for over 20 years and has international mine, advanced stage and exploration targeting experience in sediment-hosted base metals (Pb-Zn-Ag, Cu), IOCG (Cu-Au, Mo-Re), porphyry-epithermal (Cu-Au, Ag), mesothermal Au, and energy (U, coal, UCG).

Mark is a skilled and practiced GIS integrator and targeting analyst of geological, remote-sensed and geophysical data. He has contributed to resource discovery, extension and both pre-feasibility and feasibility technical appraisals in roles as Principal Geologist, Chief Geologist and consultant with many major and mid-tier mining and exploration companies (including MMG, Newcrest, Dundee Precious Metals, ERA, Alligator Energy, Chinova-Ivanhoe, Evolution, Oceana, MRM-Xtrata, Blackwwod Corp, Pasminco, Anglo American, North limited, Noranda Pacific and QDME).

Mark is currently applying his skills in the Deep Mining Queensland project at the WH Bryan Mining and Geology Research Centre (UQ) focused on 3D prospectivity in the Cloncurry belt, Mt Isa. Rebuilding a detailed tectono-stratigraphic understanding of the assembly of the Eastern Fold Belt and establishing the essential controls on Cu-Au ore is well advanced. This will allow sharp targeting into the sub-300m depth zone within the belt where geological relationships are well resolved, and more robust targeting of areas-of-interest under cover.

Mark has a PhD from JCUNQ where he resolved the pre-mining, structural and geochemical controls on the Peak base and precious metal deposit at Cobar, NSW, and he completed a postdoc, supported by AGSO and MIM, focused on the structural setting, timing and controls on Zn-Pb ore at HYC McArthur River, NT.
