Dr Avent obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, United States of America. She has also obtained her certification as a board certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and recently being credentialed as an Advanced Practice Pharmacist.

Research Interests

  • Antimicrobial Stewardship
    Dr Minyon Avent is an Antimicrobial Stewardship pharmacist at the School of Public Health, The University of Queensland. She has many years of experience in developing and implementing programmes for the appropriate use of antibiotics in tertiary health care institutions, rural and regional areas as well as the general practice setting.
  • Optimization of Antibiotic Dosing
    Dr Minyon Avent is a Consultant Clinical Research Pharmacist at The University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research (UQCCR) where her research interests are the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic optimisation of antibiotics

Research Impacts

Dr Avent's area of expertise is Infectious Diseases which includes the development and implementation of Antimicrobial Stewardship programmes. She is the author of a number of peer-reviewed publications and has been invited to present her results at national and international conferences.
