Overview

Gautier Durantin is a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Queensland, and started his position in February 2016 after an engineering degree and a PhD in neuroscience and signal processing from the French Institute for Aeronautics and Space and the French Institute for Brain and Cognition. He is part of the Centre of Excellence for the Dynamics of Language, and works under the supervision of Prof Janet Wiles.

His research spans neuroscience and engineering. Gautier uses the tools and methodologies of neuroscience (including the use of behavioural, physiological and neural measurements, and the development of brain computer interfaces) applied to Human Machine Interaction. His skills include signal processing, user interface design, machine learning and experimental design.

Gautier works primarily on the OPAL child-friendly robot project, in which he has led the development of a social robot for language preservation in collaboration with the Ngukurr Language Centre. He is also a collaborator on the Transcription Acceleration Project and for the development of Brain Computer Interfaces for language.
