Overview

Dr. Seyyed Ali Pourmousavi Kani (Ali) joined Global Change Institute (GCI) as a Research Fellow in March 2017. Prior to joining UQ, he was a postdoc researcher with the section of Dynamical Systems at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). He also worked for California ISO (CAISO) and NEC Laboratories America in the USA for about three years.

Ali received his B.Sc. (with honours) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Mazandaran, IRAN, his M.Sc. (with honours) from the Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), IRAN, and Ph.D. from the Montana State University, USA.

His primary research interests are in the field of smart grid and power systems engineering. Specifically, he is interested in bulk power system operation and electricity market, demand response and home energy management systems, and battery storage characterization and optimal operation.
