Dr. Hamid Khataee main research interests are in theoretical biophysics. He joined the University of Queensland in 2018, after his postdoctoral career in the Howard Lab at Yale University, USA. He uses various mathematical and computational techniques and data analysis methods to understand biological phenomona. An important aspect of his research is to describe how the migration of cells propagates into neighbouring cells at the tissue level, which is essential for morphogenesis and tissue regeneration. He is also interested in the mechanics of molecular motor proteins, which transport molecular cargos inside eukaryotic cells, how the mechanical interactions between individual molecular motors give rise to their ensemble properties—force and velocity.
