Overview

I am currently a Research Fellow in the School of Civil Engineering, University of Queensland. I received the B.E. degree in automation from Harbin Engineering University, Harbin, China, in 1998, the M.E. degree in automation from Guangdong University of Technology, Guangzhou, China, in 2003, and the Ph.D. degree in computer science from City University of Hong Kong, Kowloon, Hong Kong, in 2014. I was a Research Fellow in the Institute for Transport Studies (ITS), University of Leeds, Leeds, U.K from 2015 to 2018, where I was involved several H2020 EU projects as a core researcher or Co-I such as "optiTruck" and "AUTOPILOT". I was a visiting scholar at the University of Waterloo in 2014. I was a Senior Engineer in the telecom field in China from 2003 to 2011 and took part in the establishment of several national standards for home networks.

My primary research is to apply the emerging ICT technologies to intelligent transport systems and explore their impacts on traffic efficiency, safety, and energy, most of which are addressed from the perspective of transportation cyber-physical systems. Currently, my research is focusing on the general cloud-based control framework design for automated driving, covering topics such as vehicular communication, traffic flow modeling/control design, and big data analytics in transport.

Research Interests

    platoon-based cooperative driving and heterogeneous traffic flow modeling and control, investigating the impacts of communication and information (QoS, range, type ).
  • vehicular communication
    QoS analysis of V2X communication and Protocols design for specific applications
  • big data in transportation
    traffic prediction based on big data and deep learning, and their impact on traffic system performance
  • Simulation Platform for Transportation cyber-physical system
    Building up a general verification platform for transportation cyber-physical system which includes V2X communication, traffic networks, CA and human-driven vehicle model in the loop.
