Overview

Cathy completed her PhD at the CIRB/College de France, in Paris, in 2012. During her PhD she studied the role of extracellular matrix components in developmental angiogenesis using both cell culture and the zebrafish model. In 2013, Cathy moved to Australia where she joined the Francois lab at UQ's Institute for Molecular Bioscience to gain more expertise in the field of cardiovascular development. The lymphatic vascular system plays a fundamental role in development and disease. Significant advances have been made in understanding the mechanisms that regulate lymphatic vessel emergence, during development. However, the mechanisms of lymphatic vessels establishment are poorly understood. Cathy is currently establishing genetic tools in both mouse and zebrafish model systems in order to investigate in vivo key cellular and molecular mechanisms of lymphangiogenesis.
