Overview

Dr Sophie Cockcroft caries out research into aspects of Data Management as it applies in business and health environments . Shet teaches Systems Analysis and Design and Business Intelligence (incorporating so called 'Big Data' and the analysis thereof) in the UQ Business school. She completed her PhD in 1999 at the university of Otago, New Zealand, specialising in the application of conceptual data modelling in spatial information system (IS) design. Her current Research interests relate issues of design and implementaion in health Information Systems, and in particular its application in larger health Infrastructures. Related to this has been work relating to the effect of National culture and other human impacts on innovation on IS in general, and health IS in particular. Recently she has applied some of the questions emerging from teaching business analytics to finance students exploring the notion of visualising credit risk data within large datasets of structured stock market data.
