Application of tailored psychosocial therapies to reduce distress and depression in cancer patients: a randomised trial (2010–2013)

Abstract:
Cancer poses an emotional burden but too often patients fail to obtain the help that would improve their ability to cope. This study aims to improve patient access to evidence-based care to reduce distress and depression and anxiety. The study involves comprehensive assessment of patients so that they receive psychosocial care tailored to their needs, delivered by specially-trained health professionals who receive ongoing support from experienced clinicians.
