Marginalised Students: enhancing life choices through engaging educational policies and practices (2012–2015)

Abstract:
The aim of this project is to explore the effectiveness of alternative/flexible educational options available in Queensland for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. This will facilitate the development of future frameworks to augment existing provision of alternative pathways and flexible educational options in and beyond Queensland. This is a significant project in that it seeks to understand how the national priority of increasing school retention can be furthered through the provision of diverse, but meaningful, forms of schooling. The project has the potential to make a significant contribution to the theoretical literature on social justice and schooling.
