A Raman facility for advanced research supporting Australia's natural gas, oil, coal and minerals industries (ARC LIEF Grant administered by UWA) (2012–2013)

Abstract:
Many Australian researchers are working to develop technological innovations to improve the way resources are located, produced, processed and delivered to the community. Their efforts will be greatly enhanced by access to a state-of-the-art Raman facility able to probe fundamental interactions occuring in hostile environments, analyse resources at their naturally occuring conditions, characterise materials being developed for better resource processing, and monitor in real-time processes used to separate raw materials. A Raman system incorporating high-pressure and temperature fibre optics, a supercontinuum laser and an in-situ SEM capability will help advance the science behind gas, oil, coal, biomass and ore processing and production.
