Principles of Quantum Nanotechnology (2003–2007)

Quantum physics in the last two decades has blazed an entry path for new technology based on manipulating matter and light at the quantum level. In this project I will formulate principles for emerging quantum nanotechnologies: quantum electromechanical systems (QEMS), quantum molecular electronics, quantum optics and coherent matter physics. The prinicple applications to be investigated include: quantum control, quantum metrology, quantum communication and quantum information processing. The project will be an essential part of two major multi-institutional international projects; one based in the UQ (in QEMS) and one EU-based project in quantum metrology.
