Predicting the Value and Use of Urban Land (2018–2022)

Abstract:
Land is a key asset, but one that has been very challenging to value accurately. Land revaluations present a significant risk to state government revenues, yet a reliable modelling framework to predict land values does not currently exist. Building on a strong government-academic alliance, this project proposes to address this by developing a comprehensive, robust and user-friendly set of modelling tools. These will be used to study land use allocation, infrastructure delivery and government taxation revenue. Outputs also include new econometric theory, advanced computational methods and evidence-based guidelines for policymakers.
