A new approach for characterizing soils based on electric parameters (2018–2020)

Abstract:
The aim of the project is the development of an electromagnetic technic for concept for hydraulic and mechanical parameters estimation of geo-materials. These parameters of rocks and soils govern the behavior and influence the safety of man-made and natural geo-structures. Conventional monitoring methods are limited, reducing our capability of detecting threats to these structures. The project aims to take advantages of the frequency dependent electromagnetic parameters of geo-materials to develop sensors and associated analysis concepts. The outcomes of the project will improve protection of major geo-structures, trigger novel applications in civil engineering and foster the development of patentable sensors and analysis concepts.
