Sports concussion: informing recovery by imaging the brain abnormality in a rodent model (2018)

Concussion affects thousands of athletes but how do you determine when a player can return to play after a concussion? Diagnosis has been limited to self-reported assessments and imaging has been limited in sensitivity. The aim is to develop innovative Magnetic Resonance Imaging to determine recovery time following a concussion. Findings will support recommendations for tracking recovery and deciding when athletes return-to-play, important to minimize risk for repeated injuries.
