Overview

Dr Melinda Ashcroft is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Computational Microbiologist at the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences, The University of Queensland (UQ). Her work focuses on using whole genome sequencing to investigate antimicrobial resistance, DNA methylation and Mobile Genetic Elements in uropathogenic bacteria. Dr Ashcroft was awarded her Bachelor of Applied Science (Biotechnology) in 2004 and Master of Biotechnology in 2013. She then switched fields to Microbial Genomics and was awareded a PhD from UQ in 2019 for her work on the evolution of extraintestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli lineages.
