Overview

Nicole is an Oral health therapist, Associate Lecturer and PhD Candidate at the University of Queensland. She has a keen interest in improving the oral health of special needs and underserved populations through dental public health research. Since graduating from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Oral Health in 2014, Nicole worked as both a clinical Oral health therapist and in research. Nicole observed in clinical practice and research that many people are denied adequate oral health care which can have a significant impact on daily life.

Nicole has worked on a variety of topics in the field of Dental Public Health. These topics include sweet drinks consumption, smoking cessation for Indigenous Australians, nutrition and oral health in aged care residents, the oral health needs of people living with; mental illness, multiple sclerosis and homeless Australians. Nicole is passionate about improving the oral health of populations such as the socially disadvantaged, people with special needs and Indigenous Australians through research.
