Overview

Dr Viana Vuvan is a titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and Lecturer in Physiotherapy at The University of Queensland. Viana has over 15 years of clinical experience managing a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including workplace and sports injuries. Viana teaches across the undergraduate and postgraduate physiotherapy programs at the University of Queensland, with a particular focus in musculoskeletal physiotherapy for the upper limb.

Viana’s research areas and interests lie in optimising management of persistent musculoskeletal pain conditions, such as tendinopathies, and better understanding factors that contribute to chronicity. Viana’s PhD research involved quantitative sensory, physical and psychosocial tests to explore mechanisms underlying pain, disability, and chronicity in people with lateral elbow tendinopathy and its management. Her other research has explored mechanisms underlying pain in other tendinopathies (i.e., Achilles, patellar tendinopathy, plantar fasciopathy) and whiplash associated disorders. Viana has presented her research at multiple state-wide, national and international conferences, and has been awarded for her presentations at several conferences.
