Dr Sohrab Nizami is working as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at The University of Queensland’s Dow Centre for Sustainable Engineering Innovation. His multi-disciplinary research at the DOW centre is focused on accelerating the uptake of E-Mobility with a specific focus on electric heavy vehicles. He is also working closely with the school of ITEE on grid integration, energy management and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) optimisation of electric vehicles. Prior to joining UQ, he worked at Evenergi, Sydney, Australia as E-Mobility Research Lead(August 2020 - February 2021) and Casual Researcher (February 2020 - August 2020), where his research was focused on developing energy management and charging infrastructure planning tool for the electric bus depot. His previous employment also includes Research Assistant at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia (June 2020 - August 2020), Lecturer-Senior Lecturer- Assistant Professor at the University of Asia Pacific, Dhaka, Bangladesh (October 2011 - September 2013 and September 2015 - June 2017).
Sohrab received the B.Sc. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Islamic University of Technology, Bangladesh, in 2010, the M.Sc. degree in sustainable energy technology from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the Netherlands in 2015, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Macquarie University, Australia, in 2020.
Sohrab has a deep understanding of energy management, business models, infrastructure requirements and power grid challenges of electric vehicles. His research expertise also includes electrical network modelling and analysis, implementing demand response and energy management systems for the power distribution networks, and developing optimization algorithms for effective management of distributed energy resources including solar energy, battery storage systems, and electric vehicles.
