After completing my PhD under the supervision of Prof. Patrik Ă–hberg at the Institute of Photonics and Quantum Sciences at Heriot-Watt University (Scotland, UK), I spent three years at Newcastle University (UK) as a postdocotoral researcher in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics. After this I moved to Japan where I spent two years at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) followed by fourteen months on the mainland where I was part of the Topological Science Project at Keio University. Presently I am a member of the ARC centre of excellence in Future low-energy electronics technologies, FLEET where I am supervised by Prof. Matthew Davis.
My research concerns quantum many-body systems that can exhibit the peculiar phenomena of superfluidity - here the fluid can flow without viscosity. In particular my previous research has covered synthetic gauge theories, non-equilibrium effects, solitary waves and vortices and quantum droplets.
My outside interests include running, learning about Japanese culture and reading.
