Overview

Dr Hafiz Ilyas holds a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF), Pakistan.

Hafiz undertook post-graduate studies under the Department of Structures & Environmental Engineering at UAF, and completed his Ph.D. from Lincoln University New Zealand in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development. His research focused on energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions assessment of different land-use systems.

Hafiz gained multi-disciplinary industry experience from New Zealand. In his previous role, he worked as an Environmental Researcher-Climate and supported multiple sectors organisations, businesses, farms and manufacturing facilities in their operational and project-level emissions measurement, and identified emissions mitigation options for them.

As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at JKMRC, Hafiz will engage in research in areas of emission monitoring and quantification, carbon footprint assessment, and mitigation pathways evaluation for the mining industry. Hafiz is eager to further contribute to the field of GHG emission management in order to assist the mining sector in achieving its emissions reduction targets.
