Managing anger responses to perceptions of unfair managerial treatment (ARC Discovery Project administered by Griffith University) (2013–2015)

Abstract:
Anger is pervasive in the workplace; never more so than in today's volatile economic climate. While there has been much research regarding anger at work, there is a problem: we know little about how employees deal with their own and others¿ anger, and the effects this has on their performance. We address this problem in three studies that examine how employees deal with anger following perceptions of unfair managerial treatment, both individually and in teams. Our project entails the development and testing of an innovative explanatory model, and involves laboratory and field studies. Building on these studies, we develop and test the efficacy of a team-based anger management intervention that has practical implications for organisations.
